This is something we've been thinking about for an upcoming trip. We truly enjoy the dessert parties for the fireworks shows at Epcot and MK, but it hadn't occurred until now that we've been ignoring the efforts of the CM's at these events. Is there a way to give a gratuity at these events? We don't remember having any one particular server taking care of us, so not sure how to accomplish giving a tip. Any ideas?

That's a very good point.

From what I've read, there are CM's around tending to things, but they are not waiting on you. You get your own goodies and drinks and return to your seat. They may pick up things and replenish the offerings, but no other real interaction that would require a tip. The price of the event does not include gratuity, but it seems as though it's not expected or required.

If you did feel the need to give something, you could come with an envelope that you could give to the host/hostess at the end of the event. But honestly, I don't think you would need to.

My recollections to the dessert seating for Fantasmic there was a "group" of CMs assigned to each area, but we never felt the need to leave a gratuity. The one time we attended the Tomorrowland Skyline Lounge experience, we were seated and served our inital offering and any additional drinks we actually went to the host/hostess stand and got them ourselves ... This was great except the fireworks were cancelled. The last time we tried to go the whole experience was cancelled and now with the "new" laser show not sure it will be offered, but was a great venue just the same. Again, we didnot feel the need to leave a gratuity. If the need is there I think dp's idea of leaving something in an envelope is a great idea.

Smile ma

I used to work for Six Flags, and with the exception of the few sit down restaurants we had, there was never an expectation by employees for gratuities. I can tell you what we all lived-and-died by, and I'm willing to bet Disney CMs are the same way: Go to City Hall (or the park equivalent to Guest Relations) and give a shout out to the CM who helped you.

Six Flags supervisors made a BIG deal out of employees who were called out for good things, and those things are also used in consideration when determining location leads and whatnot.

Cheers!

Always make a point of doing that in each park. THE CM's at guest relations are so used to fielding complaints, when they hear we are there to do the exact opposite it always results in a big smile!
