A bit more recent & it is from a popular sequel of a very popular movie. |

I’m reading it in English accents, so that might be skewing my guesses. Mary Poppins Returns? |

Character A: “Ever wonder what those sparkly dots are up there?”
Character B: “I don’t wonder, I know.”
Character A: “Oh? What are they?”
Character B: “ They’re fireflies. Fireflies that got stuck up in that big, bluish-black thing.” |

Not Princess and the Frog, but I do always think of Ray when I hear it! From an animated movie, and the speakers are animal characters. |

Poop. I was really thinking it was the firefly & alligator characters from that movie.
A completely wild guess - Lady & the Tramp? |

Nope. These two animals are both male, and completely different breeds. |

They are sidekicks of the primary character, and got to tell "their side of the story" in a (sort of) sequel. |

Um.... Thumper and Flower? The language seems a little more contemporary though. |

Not Thumper and Flower. You're right in them being a more contemporary pair of characters, compared to Bambi. Both became friends after being ostracized by their own. They sing (arguably) the most popular song in their movie. |
