Here we are in 1959! My younger sister was finally old enough to come along.
There are some things that you will see are the same and some different.
First up is Myself, my Mother, sister and brother in front of the castle:<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"></a>
The monorail:
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"></a>
The Matterhorn:
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"></a>
The Columbia:
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"></a>
The Mark Twain:
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"></a>
Dumbo:
<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"></a>
Cap't Hook's Pirate Ship (view from the skyway):

Well...that's it....Hope you enjoyed this trip down memory lane : ) |

Those are all very nice. Thanks a ton for sharing.
The most interesting thing to me is the differences between then and now, in terms of the foliage. Exactly as Walt said about the park, the trees will mature and the thing will get more beautiful every year. Very cool. |

Wow! Those pictures are Steak Sauce! (A1). The park doesn't look that crowded. |

I have never been to DL, but remember Walt showing things on his Sunday night TV show. Those pictures just flash me back to the 50's in general. (Even though I am a wee bit younger than Kat.)
One experience that came out of watching Walt's show was how much I wanted to see the fireworks going off over the castle. I remember the first time I experienced it at WDW. I still still get that feeling that I had the first time.
Another thing Walt showed was the skipper on Jungle Cruise shooting at the hippo. I was disappointed when that went away, but glad to see it come back in one form.
Thanks for sharing those pics. Now I have something to relate some of the tracks on UAB to. _________________ [

You are welcome....alway happy to share memories.
When my son and I go to DL in August this year, we are going to bring these photos with us and try to take pictures from the same location to compare over 50 years of magic. I know there is at least one that we won't be able to do...from the skyway : ( oh well...at least we can try and get the others! |

That is just an awesome idea.
Now, the skyway may be gone, but maybe you can get high enough in certain places to replicate that...maybe your son can bring a HUGE stepladder! _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

Awesome pictures though....really truly awesome....
Since these are in 59...You must have had awesome experiences riding a "just opened" Monorail and Matterhorn. It's funny to see the "Holiday Hill" trees still surrounding the Matterhorn which was still part of tomorrowland .
