Good Morning UAB (again).
With all of this hoopla (HOOPLA!) about iphone apps and mobile devices, I figured it was time to see who was listening to UAB on the go. I know I do in my car fairly often, especially on long road trips.
Here's the place where we can list all of our mobile devices which have successfully been able to stream UAB for an extended period of time along with instructions and associated applications for listening to the stream.
I use A Online Radio (free app) from my Motorola Droid, and it works GREAT. I'll be writing up instructions shortly on how to stream it.
Who else is listening and what mobile apps are you using? |

I listen using an app called Resco Radio on a Windows Mobile phone. I've used it for years and it works great. It's not free, but it works well.
I can only listen to the Economy stream, but on the phone (through my stereo speakers), it sounds great.
The address to plug in is www.uabmagic.com:8000

I listen on the iPhone using Quicktime via the website. That way I am able to be logged in with the Premiere stream.
mdegrand does the same. |

I listen on my Blackberry Storm using an app called Flycast 2.0. It's free and super easy to use. In order to find UAB just go to the "Search" option and type "Utilidors Audio Broadcasting" in the "Shoutcast" field. I had trouble finding UAB by using the "Keyword" search field.

On my itouch I use QT, ony Moto Driod I use A online radio. Both work great. I have used the unoffical app and find it lacking. I have also used cast catcher but it is also limited. _________________ Jason

I'd just like to say, I tried the Shoutcast app method on my iPhone, and the sound quality is terrible. It's like I'm listening to the broadcast through a seashell. I'll stick to just accessing the site through the browser and activating the Quicktime listening option.
Any plans for UAB to make an official app sometime in the future? |

I used to use CastCather, but now I use the quicktime link when I want to listen over my ipod touch. I've also started letting that play in the background in safari, while tuned into the Now Playing page on Perfect Browser, an awesome 99cent browser. That said, unless an official iphone app is in the pipes, could we maybe get a mobile version of at least now playing? Nothing dramatic, mainly just a thinner page with the picture over the name, land, request info, etc. A request making mechanism would also be nice _________________ Doing the impossible is pretty fun - Walt Disney

Simple, place your phone on top of a speaker that is playing UAB!
Seriously, do you have internet access on your phone? _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.

Ok, I just looked up your phone. What you could try is the quicktime version (from the now playing page) and see if that works. The built-in player only player real player, MP3 and AAC, so you could also try the real player option and see of that works. But you have to have internet access to start.
If you're still having trouble, let me know and I'll see if I can help walk you through it. _________________ When you're curious, you find lots of interesting things to do.
