There has been a lot of buzz and discussions regarding a relatively brand new Fantasyland here at WDW's Magic Kingdom.
The rumors have included the following:
*Fantasyland being expanded (and taking over) Mickey's Toon Town Fair
*Aladdin Magic Carpet being relocated and becoming a "dueling" Dumbo ride
*A Beauty & Beast themed restaurant
*The long discussed Dwarves Mine Train Coaster
*The Little Mermaid dark ride
Up until recently, most of this was considered rumor, but recently scans of Disney blue prints have been found and posted. These blue prints are considered to be "authentic", but with everything else on the internet, take it with a grain of salt. Also, there has been no official word or acknowledgement of any of this. So take all of this with a grain of salt...
But what do you think of the rumored changes? If you could do something different, what/how/why?

I like Mickey's Toon Town, but the park was fine without it for many years. I hope they do keep an area designed for the youngest guests. My grandson really likes Goofy's Barnstormer, although he is tall enough for the adult rides and really likes those. _________________ [

That little piece labeled Gaston's Tavern... I know it wouldn't happen, but that would be pretty cool. They could sell the Grand Marnier Orange Slush or Grey Goose Citron Lemonade Slush from Les Vins des Chefs de France

I have to agree with Figmentathm,
I do hope they keep some areas for the little kids.
My daughter isn't so little any more and loves the big kid rides but she aslo loves to go
play in some of the playground areas some parks offer.
But the overhaul dose sound interesting.
And it would be nice to have a place in MK to get a beer while my DW + DD
ride Its a Small World for the 3rd + 4th time.
I know Disney typically draws up plans like this... The imagineering offices do it all the time.
While I think this could have a lot of potential, I have to wonder if:
Disney is ready to invest all that money in Fl.
Disney is willing to shut down portions of Fantasyland to do the conversion.
Disney is willing to deal with the "You can't change anything" crowd that will start squaking.
Personally,I think the flying carpets should have been in Fantasyland to begin with. There is all that space where the sky ride was, all the space by the Ariel meet and greet, and all the 20,000 space that could be put to much better use than today.
I have no issue with taking out toon town either, although I would like to see some attractions for the little kids remain, and would like to see something with neverland merged in, and the Mickey, Minnie houses retained...
I would not have minded seeing the raceway removed. takes up a lot of space, always a long wait, uses a lot of staff to manage, and can hardly be considered a GREEN ride, which is the bug marketing buzz word these days.

According to the blueprints, the Pooh Play Area stays and they would add a Fairies play area... so there would still be places for the little ones. And as for the beer, I highly doubt it, maybe root bear. The "Gaston's Tavern" would probably an outside counter service than an actual tavern... _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best!
Keep out the beer. You all know I like a beer as much as anybody. But I do like that aspect of MK. There are plenty of places to have an "adult beverage". Keep MK dry.
Race track has to stay. It is too much of a favorite with kids. _________________ [

Screamscape has more rumors regarding this rumor. They are stating that this project (and other unknown projects) could be a response to the Universal Studios Harry Potter project.
Well, if Disney wants to try to counter Harry Potter, they need to get started now! With portions of Harry Potter expected to open next year (with the rest of the project opening in stages over the next few years) they are going to start pulling people soon...
Oh, Screamscape also has this cool image: http://www.screamscape.com/html/mk_-_fantasyland_0.htm This image was done by one of their readers, the blue print is done as an overlay over an aerial view of the area. It gives a great view of the project! _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best!
That overlay was a good idea, as it is what all folks were trying to do in their heads.
Would be nice to see this happen... but it is such a huge capital investment...
as to HP, I'm not sure if they can stop folks going to Universal to see HP. At least not the first time. What they might be able to do is provide them a reason to make the Universal trip a 1 day trip, and give them more reasons to come back to MK and not return to HP a second or third time.

No official word yet, but WDI has been poking around Disneyland looking for rock work ideas for Mermaid, and when asked about it, they mentioned both US Disney parks. I am soooo excited. evem if it doesn't go in FL, it may still go somewhere in WDW. _________________ .:~*A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes*~:. yup

Goodness I hope that they don't get rid of Toontown. If they're keeping the Barnstormer, they'd almost have to keep some amount of it otherwise the theming would make absolutely no sense. Maybe another of these suspected projects is a better version of Toontown across the railroad or somewhere else. I would love to see this expansion to Fantasyland and a better Toontown, maybe more like the one in DL? _________________ Doing the impossible is pretty fun - Walt Disney

My money goes on them placing it somewhere near the old sub lagoon. They still have space where the Pooh themed play place is... _________________ .:~*A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes*~:. yup
