This has been talked about on other sites for months, Screamscape even had the concept artworks up for approx 4 hours (and people say that park big wigs don't pay attention to the internet ) before getting pulled. Well, everyone's speculation was correct:

Coaster To Fly Riders Face Down, Give Feeling Of Being Manta Ray
Attraction To Open Summer 2009
ORLANDO, Fla. -- A new high-tech roller coaster officially announced at SeaWorld Orlando will fly riders in a face down, horizontal position to give the feeling of soaring like an underwater manta ray.
"The sensation of Manta will be like none other in the world," Busch Entertainment's chief marketing officer Joseph Couceiro said.
The attraction, which was inspired by the underwater flight of manta rays, will have coaster trains shaped like giant manta rays that skim lagoon water during the ride.
Officials said the ride envelops riders in a sensation of oneness with the ocean's most powerful and graceful creature as they soar, dive and plummet through the air.
"The ride is uniquely SeaWorld, vice president and general manager of SeaWorld Orlando Dan Brown said.
The manta trains will glide and swoop at 60 mph on more than 3,300 feet of track.
The theme park has been working with Swiss coaster design company, Bolliger and Mabillard for the design of Manta.
About 300 manta rays and other sea life will be featured at the attraction as well, according to the news release.
The 40-acre attraction will be located inside the main entrance to SeaWorld Orlando.

Looks like next year might be a good year for coaster fans in Central Florida, with this new coaster, the USO Hollywood Rockit coaster, updated Dueling Dragons at IOA.... it's a shame the the most recent rumors have MK's Space Mountain redo being pushed back further and being down most of next year. Maybe Disney is waiting for all of the hoopla from these non-Disney coasters to die down, to emphasize the "new" Space Mountain (if it happens).

Disney isn't the type that is going to release a new or updated attraction while USO or SW are in their primetime releasing stuff. Disney seems to like to come out when things get dull, thus attractiong more people.

See, I'm ont the other side of the road on the Harry Potter stuff... I don't think it is going to "crush" Disney, I don't think it is going to really effect Disney that much. Especially when you look at the HP Plan... Only a portion of the area will be ready for the opening next year and the only attractions will be the redressed Dueling Dragons and Flying Unicorn. The rest of the area and the new big attraction won't open until 2010/2011 time frame...
Now, if Universal had everything in the project open at the same time, that might give Disney a dip... but I don't think it is going to hurt them too much... _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best!
I think the HP stuff will be a small flash. The die hard HP folks will be there opening month, but after that... most of the folks that would have gone to Universal for HP would have been going to it anyway. If anything, it might be more folks down that would visit both parks, giving Disney an inadvertent push.
I'm pleased to see Sea World coming up with a ride that truly fits into its theme.

I saw a local newstation report about the new coaster last night... the reporter said something that made me laugh out loud, because of their lack of knowledge...
The report said this would be biggest thing to happen to SeaWorld since the Kracken first openned.... what was funny was he completely forgot about the new SeaWorld Water Park that opened a month or so ago.... so this coaster will be a bigger thing for SeaWorld than a whole new park.... heh, silly people _________________ Up or Down North, South, East, or West An Adventurer's Life is Best!

I didn't say it was going to CRUSH WDW I said it would BE a crush to WDW and still the most impactful since it's 1971 opening. You're mixing statements. I'm not sure how big HArry potter is down your way, but there are people already talking about going down for the opening and it's a year + away.
Vacation plans surrounding a themepark LAND opening sort of forshadow a big deal, considering the fact that Harry Potter has a following unlike anything in the last 10-20 years. _________________

I love my Disney parks....but I'm pretty excited about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. WE've already talked about taking a day from out WDW trip after it opens to check everything out.
We'll still do a week at WDW... I do enjoy my Potter too!
I haven't been to a Sea World park since I was seven.
