Well, a young boy is the main character, but no immediate family.
And crap. Typo, big typo in previous comment. This is not an animated movie.
There is overlap of a couple of characters between the live action & animated movies. |

Hmmm. Don’t think I’ve ever seen it, but I’m remembering a live action movie (might have been a Disney Channel thing) called “Minutemen”. Could that be it? |

I need to stop doing clues late at night.
To clarify - There is an animated movie that has some overlapping characters with this movie. But they are not the same movie - different title & story for each of them.
Both were theatrical releases (approx 30yrs apart) well before Disney+ was even a hazy concept. Animated movie came 1st.
Magic & a magic man is involved to a certain extent in both movies as well. |

Maybe "Kid in King Arthur's Court"? Certainly uses some the same characters as Sword and the Stone. |

Aw, heck, that's what makes the game fun!
1st Character: "How about I beat your butt right now?"
2nd Character: "How about I draw a line down the middle of your head so it looks like a
butt?" |

No. It was a live action movie, with a sport theme. |

Not the Mighty Ducks, which was definitely a Disney movie. But you're on the right track thinking cold sports. |
